Jubilate Deo

End of October

The “Jubilate Deo” Choral Sacred Music Festival is held in late October in the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary and brings together six amateur choirs from Drniš and other parts of Croatia. The festival was created with the aim of enriching the city’s cultural life and encouraging activity, collaboration and artistic progress within choral singing. Over the years, it has become a recognised event dedicated to the preservation and performance of sacred music, offering a varied repertoire that spans from Gregorian chant to contemporary spiritual compositions. The festival is organised by the Drniš Public Open University, the Neuma City Choir, and the Parish of Our Lady of the Rosary, who jointly create a professional and solemn setting for choir performances. With the church’s exceptional acoustics and the participation of diverse vocal ensembles, the festival provides a unique musical experience that attracts visitors and lovers of sacred music. Today, “Jubilate Deo” is considered an essential part of Drniš’s cultural identity and one of the city’s most significant autumn music events.

“Jubilate Deo” is a choral sacred music festival presented in the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary each October, featuring six amateur choirs and supporting the growth, visibility and quality of Drniš’s musical community.

Musical programme and artistic variety

The choirs present a rich repertoire of sacred music.

The musical programme of the “Jubilate Deo” festival is built around performances by six amateur choirs, each presenting its own selection of sacred compositions. The audience can hear a wide range of works, including traditional Gregorian chants, Baroque and classical pieces, contemporary spiritual music, and arrangements of traditional songs. This variety gives the festival its distinctive character and allows listeners to experience different styles, vocal techniques and interpretative approaches within sacred choral music. The presence of choirs from various parts of Croatia further enriches the programme and highlights regional diversity in choral traditions. The festival thus becomes a place of artistic exchange and inspiration for performers, while offering the public an exceptional blend of sacred art and musical expression.
